Letter from the Principal 01/08/2021

January 8, 2021

Dear Cardinal Students, Families, and Supporters!

In increased times of hardship and challenges in our country and community, I want to send you my heartfelt support. I want to provide you with district updates, school information, and additional resources:

Governor Newsom’s School Re-Opening Proposition
To begin the new year, Governor Newsom shared a proposal for school reopenings in February. However, our district Superintendent, along with superintendents across the state of California, shared concern with the Governor’s proposal and provided him with realistic recommendations to revise his plan. Our district has not changed their position for school re-openings at this time. There will be an update at next week’s Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 12 regarding district plans and timeline for school re-openings. I want to remind you that school re-openings are a district decision, not a state/Governor decision.

Parent/Guardian Resource Handbook
We have created a Resource Handbook to consolidate school information and resources that we hope you find helpful. Please CLICK HERE to access the handbook.

Progress Grade Reports and End of Grading Period
Prior to Winter Break, we mailed out progress reports for all Hoover students. I decided to invest in the cost and resources to do this to ensure parents/guardians/supporters had a better idea of where their students are at. I want to make you aware that the Quarter 2 grading period ends on Friday, January 22. These grades are final and will be on student transcripts, so any encouragement you can provide to ensure your students are completing their assignments is appreciated. Our teachers are working very hard to support students during this very difficult time.
