Dear Cardinal Students, Families, and Supporters!

I want to update you with information regarding our “Learning Lab” opportunity on campus, athletics, and more

“Learning Labs” - SDUSD Expansion of Phase One School Re-Opening As previously shared, SDUSD reached an agreement to expand Phase One Appointment-Based learning opportunities. The primary factors of this agreement included the following:

  1. Teachers who volunteer to meet with students in their classroom can have up to 10 students at one time (one cohort)
  2. “Learning Labs,” which consist of a space in a “larger” enclosed space on campus, are supervised by a substitute teacher or a classified staff member.  Learning labs are essentially spaces on campus for students to participate in their virtual classes.  It is not direct instruction.  The substitute teacher or classified staff member will be present to ensure all safety protocols are followed.  Students who participate will be in the same learning space, with the same students, and have the same supervising substitute teacher every day.  Learning labs on campus will be available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM..

We are currently in the process of identifying students who are interested in participating in a Learning Lab. If you are interested in your student participating in a Learning Lab, please complete the following form: CLICK HERE .

Once you complete the form, our office staff will contact you to provide next steps and schedule a time for your student to begin coming to campus to participate in a Learning Lab.

Hoover Athletics Update
I want to make you aware that the CA Dept. of Health has begun to lift restrictions related to school athletics. At this time, there are four team sports that have been cleared for competition against other schools: co-ed tennis, cross country, swim, and track & field  Additionally, boys’ and girls’ soccer, baseball, soccer, and girls’ lacrosse have been cleared to begin practicing. All students will need to be cleared by a doctor prior to participating.Access to clearance forms can be found here: Athletic Clearance - Home. If you have any questions, please contact our Athletic Director, Vanessa Stahley, at [email protected].

Progress Grading Term

I want to make you aware that the end of the progress grading period is Friday, February 26. These are only progress grades, not final grades, but eventually evaluating these grades when posted will give you a sense of the progress your student is making.  As always, I encourage you to sign up for ParentPortal to easily access this information. Thank you for your partnership!
