I want to re-emphasize information in my Tuesday phone call regarding potential school openings, as well as notify you we have secured FREE physicals TOMORROW for our student-athletes.
SDUSD Re-Opening Information
The SDUSD School Board announced this week that they have targeted the week of April 12 to re-open all SDUSD schools. I want to make sure and clarify this information, as I have seen and read misinformation in the news and media. The week of April 12th is a TARGETED date for school reopenings. The week of April 12th targeted date is contingent on three criteria:
- San Diego County moves to the red tier
- ALL school staff have access to both COVID vaccine doses
- Strict mitigation factors are put in place on all school sites
As of this week’s agreement, if ALL THREE criteria are NOT met, the SDUSD week of April 12th return target will also not be met. If all three criteria ARE met, it appears students who would like to return to campus will have the opportunity to return to campus for classes.Students/families who are not comfortable with on campus learning will still have the option for online learning. What instruction will look like for online learning is a current topic of bargaining with labor units.
SDUSD has noted they will be sending out a survey to families/guardians to gauge student/family interest in on-campus or online learning in anticipation of the week of April 12th. As of today, school sites are standing by and waiting for this survey to be released.
Hoover Athletics - FREE Physicals
The state and district have provided clearance for all sports, except for indoor sports (at this time), to begin competing. A critical element of students being allowed to participate is completing athletic clearance. To complete athletic clearance, CLICK HERE. One element of athletic clearance is completion of a physical. WE HAVE SECURED DOCTORS TO GIVE FREE PHYSICALS TOMORROW, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27! Physicals will be taking place outside of the girls’ locker room from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and we have asked specific sports to arrive at specific times:
- 9:30 AM - Cross Country, Track, Swim, and Soccer
- 10:30 AM - Baseball and Softball
- 11:30 AM - Football, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Basketball, and Wrestling
